History

Brooke Smith Planning was originally founded in 1994, as Brooke Smith Associates. After growing and establishing a national client base, in 2004 it merged with CSJ Planning in Bristol and renamed the Birmingham office as CSJ Brooke•Smith.

Caseload and staff numbers expanded and new offices were taken in Edgbaston. The Birmingham office continued to serve a growing clients base across the UK.

In 2010, the two CSJ Planning in Bristol and CSJ Brooke Smith in Birmingham became two separate limited companies and in January 2011, the Birmingham office rebranded as Brooke Smith Planning.

Since 1994, the Practice has grown substantially in terms of staff and turnover and in 2005 entered the RTPI top ten list of independent planning consultancies. In 2009 the combined Bristol and Birmingham offices were shortlisted for the RTPI Planning Consultancy of the Year and in 2010, the Birmingham office of Brooke Smith Planning was similarly honoured again.

The Practice continues to grow in terms of client base and areas of expertise. Reflecting this we have recently expanded our community strategy team responding to ever changing planning legislation.
