Planning Application Submission Fees to Increase – 22nd November 2012

As of the 22nd November Local Planning Authorities in England are to increase planning application fees.

So now is the time to get your applications in before they go up!

A summary of the fees are below, with the fees in brackets being the existing levels:

Outline Planning Applications: Erection of dwellinghouses and the erection of buildings (other than buildings in categories 1, 3, 4, 5 or 7):

The fee will be £385 (£335) per 0.1 hectares of land, for sites up to 2.5 hectares. Where the site exceeds 2.5 hectares, planning authorities will charge £9,527 (£8,285), with an additional £115 (£100) for each 0.1 hectare.

Full Planning Applications: Erection of dwellinghouses:

The fee will be £385 (£335) per house for applications. For applications of more than 50 homes, the fee is £19,049 (£16,565), with an additional £115 (£100) for each house.

Full Planning Applications: Erection of buildings (other than in categories 1, 3, 4, 5 or 7):

Where no floor space is to be created by the development or the area does not exceed 40 square metres the fee is to be £195 (£170).  Where the area of the gross floor space to be created by the development exceeds 40 square metres, but does not exceed 75 square metres the fee would be £385 (£335), with each 75 square metre after that being charged at £385 (£335).

Where the area of gross floor space to be created by the development exceeds 3,750 square metres the fee is £19,049 (£16,565) plus an additional £115 (£100) for each 75 square metres.

Other developments:

For the construction of car parks, service roads and other means of access on land used for the purposes of a single undertaking incidental to the existing use the fee will be £195 (£170).

Where the application relates to the enlargement, improvement or other alteration of one existing dwellinghouse the fee will be £172 (£150). Where it relates to two or more dwellinghouses the fee will be £339 (£295).

Where the application relates to the making of a material change in the use of a building or land (other than a material change of use in category 11 or 12(a), (b) or (c)) the fee will be £385 (£335).

The fee for a non material amendments will be £195 (£170).

The fee for an application for the extension of time will be £57 for householder applications; £575 for  major development; and £195 in any other case.
