Wellesbourne – Design Consultation (Now Closed)

Orbit Homes is proposing to develop new Independent Living Extra Care Housing for older people in Wellesbourne to compliment their existing accommodation in the village.

The principle of the accommodation has been approved as part of the larger Ettington Road residential development which was granted outline consent by Stratford District Council in 2012.

Charles Church (Persimmon) has recently submitted an application to approve the details associated with the residential element of the scheme and Orbit Homes are now developing details plans of the proposed Extra Care building. These plans are being developed in line with the outline scheme which was approved in 2012.

WHAT IS EXTRA CARE HOUSING?

People who live in Extra Care Housing have their own self-contained homes with their own front doors. It is often a popular choice as it offers significant advantages for older people who wish to maintain their independence in a housing environment, whilst having access to varying levels of care and support services and a range of facilities and activities.

THE PROPOSAL

Whilst the above explains a bit about Extra Care Housing, the principle for the use of the site for this purpose has already been established.

The purpose of this consultation is therefore to obtain the views of the resident’s of Wellesbourne regarding the design of the proposed scheme:

Concept and Site Plan This plan shows the original concept sketch of the layout; the view from the entrance approach as shown in the outline application; the Charles Church (Persimmon) scheme and the Proposed Site Plan.

Proposed Floor Plans The plan shows the floor plans of the main Extra Care building.

Precedent and Proposed Elevation Plan The plan shows the proposed elevations of the main building and the bungalows to the rear, and the design inspiration and precedent, including some examples from Wellesbourne.

Impression of Site Aerial Views and Proposed Buildings This plan shows the draft street scenes for both the main building and the bungalows together with a couple of aerial views from the street frontage (west) and the rear (east).

The above plans are contained within the attached 6MB PDF document: Draft Plans
