Consent for New Carriage Builders
The Practice has again added to our ever expanding list of successful schemes for Central England Co-operative Limited. Planning consent has been gained for Leicester Carriage Builders (LCB), a specialist vehicle building and modification facility. LCB produce bespoke vehicles for a wide range of public and private sector customers. The company have been associated with the Co-operative for over 40 years. LCB currently work on a range of vehicles including mobile libraries; welfare vehicles and security vans.
They have however over the past few years witnessed growing demand for an ever more diverse range of conversions, including large HGV and articulated vehicles. Permission was sought to allow the eventual relocation of the business to a much larger site in Leicester. This would provide more modern production facilities and offer new employment opportunities, in addition to retaining the current workforce. These opportunities are currently limited due to physical site restrictions in the businesses current location.
The Practice worked as part of a comprehensive development team, leading and co-ordinating the preparation, compilation and registration of a detailed planning application, addressing issues concerning design, transport, sustainability and ecology. A robust planning application was submitted in August 2014, and planning consent was successfully granted under delegated powers in November 2014 by Leicester City Council.
