Magistrates’ Court

Masshouse, Birmingham

Her Majesty’s Courts Service

Local Authority:

Birmingham City Council

The new £80 million landmark Magistrates’ Court scheme comprises 24 court rooms plus ancillary accommodation for staff, judiciary, witnesses, defendants, legal professionals and members of the public totalling approximately 20,600 sq m of floor space over 13 levels.

The Practice worked alongside international architects Denton Corker Marshall, who designed Manchester’s award-winning Civil Justice Centre, to develop the proposals for Her Majesty’s Courts Service.

The Practice worked closely with the development team and the local planning authority to ensure the proposals meet the strict criteria laid down for this regeneration area, while still delivering an ambitious and ground-breaking building that Birmingham and the Her Majesty’s Courts Service can be proud of.

The proposal follows the Masterplan for the area which sets a blue print for new development linking Eastside with the City centre.
