Permission has been granted for the redevelopment of the site is in two parts and lays each side of the junction between Lower Essex Street and Bromsgrove Street. The site has been derelict for many years, the Unity House building has been maintained by the developer and owner in order to retain the external walls at this junction as the building although not listed nationally is recognised as having local value. The structure has been retained at no cost to the local authority and will improve the urban renaissance. The site will consist of 162 apartments, 395m2 of commercial at ground floor and 98 parking spaces on the 0.28 hectare site.
