Midland Heart

Crocodile Works, Birmingham and Whitley Village, Coventry

Midland Heart Ltd

Local Authority:

Birmingham City Council & Coventry City Council

The Practice is retained by Midland Heart Ltd, a Birmingham based Housing Association, to provide planning advice for developments across the West Midlands.

Amongst other schemes, the Practice gained consent to redevelop and convert Crocodile Works in Newtown, Birmingham, to provide for new residential units. This major scheme was part of the Pathfinder Area and is being seen as the catalyst for substantial regeneration within the Newtown area of Birmingham.

The scheme at Whitley Village proposes the creation of a high quality and striking residential development at an important gateway site into the south of Coventry. The scheme replaces existing offices, to provide apartments and town houses all of which are to be for either shared ownership or rental.

All the schemes undertaken for Midland Heart have included co-ordination of a range of technical consultants and architects plus liaison with stakeholders and a range of local authority officers from planning, environmental and housing departments and the submission of comprehensive planning applications.
