We promote clients’ sites and other interests through the development plan process by submitting robust representations to emerging Development Plan Documents and National Government Guidance. We appear at Examinations in Public.
The Government’s emphasis is on ‘front loading’ the planning system by providing evidence at the beginning of the Development Plan process. This often means involving specialists consultants and making formal representations early in the Development Plan timetable. It is essential that engagement in the process begins as early as possible to enable a client’s aspirations to be accepted by a local authority.
The Development Plan is the starting point for the consideration of planning applications, with decisions made in accordance with its policies, unless material considerations indicate otherwise.
It is therefore extremely important that client’s interests and land is promoted through the development plan process and Representations at the appropriate time.
The Practice promotes land through the Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment process and Employment Land Reviews. We also work with local planning authorities assisting in the preparation of Area Action Plans and with community groups, town and parish councils, advising on emerging neighbourhood plans and orders.
