Birmingham Conservatoire Relocation – Public Consultation STAGE 2 (Now Closed)
Birmingham Conservatoire, the city’s premier music school, is relocating to Millennium Point.
Birmingham City University is creating a new facility to house the Birmingham Conservatoire, following a relocation from its current site at Paradise Circus. The chosen site is at Millennium Point, Jennens Road, as shown on the plan below:
This move is an exciting opportunity to provide new state of the art facilities linking to Birmingham City University’s existing campus in Eastside.
The development will provide rehearsal space; recital rooms; teaching areas; and administrative space. Additionally a new concert venue will be created. The development will be a key civic building in the city, housing an internationally recognised institution.
An initial public consultation event was run by Birmingham City University, back in August this year. Following that consultation, which sought comments on the initial concept ideas, the scheme has been developed in more detail with the aim of submitting a planning application this year. All comments raised at the previous consultation have been taken into consideration when developing the scheme further.
Birmingham City University is now running a Stage 2 consultation event, where more detailed drawings and plans for the new Conservatoire will be available to review. Members of the project team will also be on hand to answer any questions on the project. A set of drawings showing these latest proposals will be available to view on this website on the 8th October 2014.
