One Step Closer for Birmingham’s Development Plan

It has been announced in the press today that the Government Planning Inspectorate have endorsed the Birmingham Development Plan (BDP), which sets out the Council’s long-term strategic plan for the whole city up to 2031.

This endorsement supports the release of Green Belt land for the provision of 6,000 houses and a 71 ha strategic employment site.

The Inspector has also answered the long awaited question… ‘what is Birmingham’s housing requirement, and can they address it?’ Its figure has now been confirmed as 89,000 houses and the
approach to deal with the shortfall endorsed.
